The SRN Story
CLR acquired and overhauled the Sabine River & Northern Railroad in 2025 because we recognized something special: this is the only short line in the Golden Triangle with triple Class I railroad access. BNSF, Union Pacific, and CPKC all connect here.

Originally built in the 1960s to serve Gulf States Utilities and the timber and paper industries, we invested significant capital in track rehabilitation, equipment upgrades, and operational improvements to bring this 40-mile short line (Buna to Echo: 32 miles; Buna to Evadale: 8 miles) back to life. Today, it's a critical logistics short line with over 1,000 railcar spots (expandable without constraint), and four interchange locations.
Triple Class I Access: What It Means
Most rail facilities offer single or dual Class I access. The SRN offers three, which means more flexibility in routing your shipments based on optimal service rather than being locked into one carrier's schedule. And when hurricanes, labor issues, or infrastructure problems hit, having three access points instead of one keeps your operation running smoothly.

Our four distinct interchange points provide multiple entry and exit options regardless of Class I schedules or conditions.
Houston-Beaumont Bypass
The SRN provides strategic bypass capabilities around the congested Houston terminal and Beaumont corridor. Anyone shipping through this region knows the delays at Tower Thirteen in Beaumont or in Houston terminal areas. The SRN's routing allows you to considerably reduce transit times by avoiding these bottlenecks, improving reliability and costs.
What We Offer
Switching operations with 24-hour interchange guarantee, storage with room for expansion, transloading for liquid and bulk commodities including hazmat, and strategic train building and blocking. We have strong relationships with all three Class I partners to optimize routing and service for our customers.
Commercial Opportunities
The SRN sits on 300 acres with substantial room for growth. We're working with customers and developers on rail-served manufacturing facilities, distribution operations, and specialized transloading projects that leverage triple Class I access.

Infrastructure advantages: Houston/Beaumont bypass capabilities, 35 miles to Port of Beaumont, no zoning restrictions, secured and fenced property with power, water, and utilities available, plus 3,400 sq ft office with truck scales.
